Dr. James Garabo has been practicing in Clark since 1991 when he founded the Garabo Chiropractic Health Center.

He obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1988. Palmer College of Chiropractic is the oldest of the chiropractic colleges and is internationally recognized as the preeminent institution in chiropractic education.

Dr. Garabo has received specialized post-graduate training in sports medicine, kinesio-taping technique, diagnostic Surface Electromyography, diagnostic radiology, spinal rehabilitation, pediatrics, nutrition response testing, general nutrition, and Cox Distraction/Decompression Technique that specifically treats disc herniation/degeneration and spinal stenosis in the cervical and lumbar spine. Dr. Garabo has also studied Body Restoration Technique and Nutrition Response Testing which utilize Applied Kinesiology (muscle testing) to help diagnose and treat more difficult conditions.

Dr. Garabo’s passion for treating children has benefited many of his younger patients, including his own family. He uses Diversified, Gonstead, Thompson, Extremity, and Activator techniques in the office. Dr. Garabo uses a variety of chiropractic techniques to allow each patient to receive a unique treatment plan.

Professional Contributions

Dr. Garabo is an active member of the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors. In the community of Clark, he was a volunteer for many years in the Career Shadowing program with Arthur L. Johnson (ALJ) high school in which he allowed students to observe him for a day in his clinic. This program allowed students who were interested in a chiropractic career to actually see what is was like in the day of a practicing chiropractor. Dr. Garabo has also donated scholarship awards to outstanding ALJ seniors to help with college costs. Dr. Garabo has been an industrial consultant and performed health screenings to such corporations as AT&T, Tecknit, Alpha Wire, Allstate Legal Supply, Sea Land Corp. and The City of Elizabeth, N.J. He has been a guest lecturer to many organizations over the years including Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s rehabilitation and clinical wellness program in Scotch Plains, NJ.

In his church, he is active as a music minister and is the music director for the Cursillo movement in the Diocese of Metuchen. He also contributes regularly as music minister for the Cursillo movement in the Diocese of Newark. Dr. Garabo also volunteers his time and resources to Life Choices in Phillpsburg, NJ. Life Choices helps women who have unwanted pregnancies to look at different alternatives to abortion.

A Chiropractic Family

Dr. Garabo has been married since 1989 to his beautiful wife Gail. They have five children ages 21, 19, 18, 14, and 12. He has been active in coaching youth soccer and softball for many years in his hometown of Alexandria Township, NJ. He is an active member and music minister of his church of Our Lady of Victories in Kingwood, NJ. Dr. Garabo is also a professional musician, specializing in drums, acoustic guitar, and singing. He performs regularly with a number of local groups and is in demand as a professional studio drummer. He also writes and produces his own compositions. He plans to donate a percentage of the proceeds of any sales of his music to his favorite charities.
